I’ve had the displeasure of renting from now three property management companies in Christchurch and I can confidently say Irelands is the only one I would willingly rent from again.

Reasons: they never tried to squeeze me. After our lease term ended, we went to a month-to-month agreement. No pressure to sign on to a long term thing, no attempt to raise our rents. They did inspections regularly, but if they couldn’t get in for one reason or another, they never made a big deal of it. I’m from the US where these regular apartment inspections are unheard of and I was appalled arriving to New Zealand and experiencing these regular incursions into my personal living spaces. But Irelands appears like they aren’t that big on drilling down into your living space anymore than you are interested in opening up your living spaces to your property manager.

They were so chill, that after leaving and experiencing all the nonsense other property managers put you through, I want to rent from Irelands again 😭.

I stayed in a student flat in Riccarton during 2025. The property manager was Sally. They were very polite and quick to respond ti email queries. Good communication made flat viewings and inspections go smoothly.

Ireland’s Property Management has shown a shocking lack of empathy, common sense, and respect for the very residents who live in the areas they manage.

Despite having plenty of reserved car parks available to them, their staff regularly choose to park on a public street with extremely limited parking in the Christchurch CBD, taking spaces that local residents rely on. This is not a one-off incident, but a repeated and conscious choice.

For a property management company operating in a city-centre location, this behaviour speaks volumes. It demonstrates a complete disregard for the surrounding community and raises serious questions about how tenants and residents are treated more broadly. If something as basic as considerate parking is beyond them, it’s hard to trust them with anything more important.

Based on this experience alone, I would not recommend doing business with this company. Professionalism isn’t just about contracts and paperwork — it’s about basic respect for others, and that is clearly lacking here.

We had spent more than five years with Irelands property management one of their property @ 26A Garvins Road Hornby it’s so quite peaceful and lovely family homes me and my wife has enjoyed a lot of experience and the same time our two children’s grown up in this lovely home feels every day with fresh air surrounded with beautiful flowers and nice Lawn grass with trees , Irelands Property management has an excellent job working with property manager “Mr. Tak” is an awesome experience , very professional , caring and everyone in Irelands are so nice people we feel comfortable we’d love to work with .

So manny thanks to Irelands property management you did a Good Job !!!!!!

Nicola patterson is horrible was a previous owner of Inevercargill property management IPM she treated us unkindly in our rental she is not a nice person and now her business is permanently close she was a bully and even used her knowledge as a property manager and with the law to do things unlawfuly.

We got given our 90 day notice at the place we in now
I looked on trademe and it had a place to rent near my brother’s place, I rang Krystal the property manager and she made a viewing . Saw the house was perfect for my family , I applied the process was so easy, and fast and a day or 2 after got a ph call from her saying we got the house. The amount of stress that has lifted off my shoulders , especially in these times as it’s very hard to find a house in Christchurch. So thank you from my daughter and partner we won’t be homeless and now don’t have to worry about moving .

Marked lack of respect for human decency and respect; showed total indifference and non- respect to their tenants – ‘just renters, what do you know?’
They do not care about their tenants, health or safety and they will find ways to pay extra money. They are threatening for the future reference.

I have met many people in a professional context, however, there are very few who truly leave a positive impact behind. Sally from Irelands is one such person, she is not just passionate about the properties she looks after but will go out of her way to assist the tenants needs as well. As a first time tenant in Christchurch, I never had to run around for any issues relating to the property, Sally always lended a helping hand. I highly recommend Sally for your rental property needs. HAPPY CUSTOMER 🙂 . Erin was great! Right from the get go she made this a really seamless and enjoyable experience. She was always contactable and would respond super fast. She was only as involved as I wanted her to be (i.e not overbearing and pushy) which I loved. Her comms were great and she was really easy to get on with. I would highly reccommend Erin. The worst PMs I’ve ever had. I’ve never been treated so poorly by a company, ever. Lisa Quist is quite happy to ignore tenants request for proof of payment by just not answering. Absolute liers who bully and dont look after their tenants. No maintenance done in 15 months I.e. heatpump, gutters etc. If you’re a tenant do yourself a favor and look for somewhere else.

Irelands have been absolutely incredible to work with to get our house on the market! My daughter and her friend rented a property from this company for 2.5 years. Never missed a payment, kept a beautiful home and was all organised with the paperwork. I helper her move out and clean, the place was beautiful. The rental manager was very unhelpful and difficult throughout the entire process and fabricated a ridiculous reason to get a cleaner at the end of the tenancy. They are taking this from the bond. Very unfair and dishonest, would not recommend as an agency. No wonder landlords get a bed rapnwith this sort of unscrupulous treatment of hard working young people. Shame.

Our time spent in a house managed by Irelands was awesome.
Every person we dealt with was very professional.
Whenever any problems arose with the property, they were dealt with extremely quickly.

Secured a wonderful apartment in 2023 thanks to the diligence of their property managers. The administration involved and the flat inspections, co-ordination of maintenance and ending the lease early were all very easy, quick and helpful. No stress or angst was felt communicating with the team at Irelands and I had no idea renting with a property management organisation could be this positive.

Special mention to Nicola, thank you very much for all your help!

Irelands will be my first port of call for locating a new rental property in Christchurch should the need ever arise for me again. It would be something I would look forward to.

Notice the 5 star reviews are all from property owners, not tenants and the tenants reviews have more likes. That’s because Irelands are horrible to tenants. If you’re a Tenant looking for a room/property go find it at a different property managers. Save yourself some time, money and stress.

Several years ago we switched to using Irelands to manage our properties, and we quickly realized we should have done it years earlier. Irelands helped me out of a really bad renting situation, both mentally and physically. They gave me a chance (being a young male renting alone) and treated me like a human being and respected me. The opportunity they gave me to rent a place through them, helped me more than they probably realised. If i ever had property to rent out or had to rent again. Irelands would definitely be my first option for renting.

I have always found Irelands very reliable, responsible and systematic. They take care to advise owners of new regulations etc and then work through what is required. Always pleasant to deal with and the regular inspections and reports give me security. I feel my property is safe and in good hands. I would not hesitate to recommend them as a Property Manager.
